About Damilola Melaye

Oluwadamilola Adekunbi Melaye(nee Adeoye), fondly known as Dami, was a devoted mother, loving wife, reliable sister, cherished daughter, and loyal friend. Born in Lagos State to Mr. Adebisi Adeoye and Mrs. Olateju Adenike Adeoye from Olla, Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, she was the youngest of five siblings. Damilola spent her early childhood in Ibadan, Oyo State, surrounded by a close-knit and warm family.

Education

Dami began her education at Polytechnic Staff School, Ibadan, before attending Methodist Grammar School, Bodija, Ibadan (1991–1997). She earned admission to the University of Ibadan (UI) to study Mathematics and Statistics but later graduated with honors in BSc Mathematics and Statistics from Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State. After completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abakaliki, she was redeployed to Abuja.

A lifelong learner, Dami obtained a master’s degree in Public Administration from the National Open University and a certificate in Data Analytics-Data Management. She was a seasoned administrator and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria (CIPMN). Her early career included working at Media Reach and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Abuja. In 2012, she joined the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), where she managed the institute’s nominal roll with dedication until her passing.

Entrepreneurial Ventures

Dami was the founder and CEO of an agricultural processing company, Tubershop Nigeria Ltd, a registered company that deals in tuber product sales and processing and the production and sales of natural and undiluted honey. She was a major supplier to chains of supermarkets in Lagos, Abuja, and London. . She remained the CEO of the company until her passing.

Family and Personal Life

Dami married Mr. Tim Melaye of Kogi State on November 20, 2010. The Lord blessed their union with two children, David and Zoe. Despite her demanding career and business ventures, she prioritized family life, nurturing and raising her children with care and discipline. Dami was known for her immaculate home, sharp intellect, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. She cherished her mother and siblings deeply and exemplified the true spirit of a family woman.

Faith and Character

A humble servant of God, Dammy quietly served in her church for many years, preparing communion and supporting others without seeking recognition. She was prayerful, kind-hearted, and compassionate, always ready to help those in need despite her own challenges. Her faith was strong, guiding her positive attitude and integrity throughout life.

Legacy

Dami was a blend of strength and warmth, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. She had a fierce sense of justice, spoke her truth, and cherished life fully. Her legacy lives on through her husband Tim, children David and Zoe, her beloved mother, and siblings Mrs. Bunmi Adeyemo, Mr. Tosin Adeoye, Mr. Olaolu Adeoye, and Mr. Olumide Adeoye. After a brief illness, Damilola passed on December 4, 2024. May her soul rest peacefully in the embrace of the Lord.
